On Sunday, November 4th the Cape Breton Island Centre for Immigration (CBICI) will host the first annual Hello Cape Breton event, a multicultural festival to celebrate the diversity of the people who call our island home. This free event which runs from 12:00 to 9:00 pm will provide all visitors with an opportunity to see incredibly talented musicians and dancers take to the main stage, A Taste of Canada food market will be there so visitors can purchase delicious dishes of international cuisine, a craft & art market filled with artists and crafts people selling their products from all around the island, and last but certainly not least, at the centre of it all visitors will be able to walk through a multicultural village.
The multicultural village is made of a collection of miniature pavilions, each representing a place in the world that many of Cape Breton's newcomers originate including China, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The pavilions will offer educational activities to visitors which will help everyone learn something about cultures that are different from their own.
This event is free to attend but don't forget to have cash on hand if you are looking to try some delicious international cuisine or take home a few works of art and craft as gifts for the upcoming holiday season!
